Five Arrested for Woman's Assault in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya

Police in South Garo Hills, Meghalaya, have arrested five individuals in connection with a brutal assault on a woman in Lower Teksragre village, Dadenggre, West Garo Hills.
The assault, which was recorded and went viral online, showed a group of men attacking the woman with bamboo sticks.
The investigation began when police from Damal Asim Police Station discovered the video. Two suspects were initially apprehended, and three more were later caught in the evening after attempting to flee.

Santa Mary Shylla, chairperson of the Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment, has demanded a report from the West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police regarding the incident. Shylla has also called for legal action against all those involved. Additionally, a committee delegation plans to visit West Garo Hills on July 1st to meet with the victim.
