A shocking incident in Guwahati, Assam, has stirred significant unrest after a woman and her lover were accused of murdering her husband. The victim, Ditumoni Haloi, originally hailed from Tihu in Nalbari district.
Hiramoni Haloi and her husband, Ditumoni, were living in a rented house in Guwahati's Kahilipara area. Their marriage was reportedly marred by frequent quarrels.
Ditumoni, who was stationed in Manipur with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), had returned home for a holiday. He arrived unexpectedly at their Kahilipara residence, where he discovered his wife with another man. This led to a heated confrontation among the three.
During the altercation, it is alleged that Hiramoni and her lover strangled Ditumoni. They subsequently transported him to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Following the incident, Hiramoni was arrested, while her lover, identified as Arup Das from Tihu, remains at large. Authorities are actively searching for him.
The local community in Tihu reacted strongly to the news, organizing a protest outside Arup Das's residence, demanding a thorough investigation and swift justice. The situation required police intervention to maintain order.
Ditumoni's mother expressed her grief and anger to the media, stating, "The woman killed my son for this affair. I want severe punishment for both Arup and Hiramoni." She also revealed that she was aware of her daughter-in-law's past indiscretions but chose not to inform Ditumoni to protect his family, which includes two children.
The tragic event has left the couple's children without their father, adding to the profound sorrow felt by the family and community.
