According to a statement issued by Dimapur Police Commissioner Kevithuto Sophie, two persons from Assam, including a woman, were arrested by the Dimapur Police on May 29 at Dimapur Railway Station for possessing a banned substance called 'Shan Flower' or 'Sunflower'. , on Friday.
Abdul Suhid, a suspect from Bowalgiri village in Assam's Morigaon district, was caught on a railway platform with 56 grams of 'Shan Flower' hidden in five plastic soap boxes.
The other suspect, Mazada Begum, 52, wife of Zakir Hussain of Kunusa village under the jurisdiction of Jagiroad police station in Morigaon district of Assam, was also caught on the platform with 21 grams of 'Shan Flower' hidden in two soap boxes.
Separate charges have been filed against each person.
Commissioner Sophie said that the Dimapur Police Commissionerate, which oversees Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Niuland districts, will continue its rigorous efforts to combat the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
