Nagaland: Indefinite strike of DCCI, CNCCI remained peaceful
As Dimapur's prolonged shuttering extended into its second day on April 27, residents of Dimapur, Niuland and Chumoukedima districts turned to markets in nearby Assam in search of alternatives. On Saturday, hundreds of people flocked to markets in Assam's Karbi Anglong district to stock up on essential supplies. Large numbers of cars, mostly from Nagaland, were seen queuing up at gas stations in Assam, causing traffic jams on the highway.
Buyers also raised concerns over price increase by traders in Assam, however, sellers denied any such discrepancy.
Similarly, the widespread indefinite strike initiated by CNCCI across the state also disrupted daily life in various areas of Nagaland, with shops and businesses remaining closed for the period.
Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries is urging everyone to extend their support to the business community and bear any inconvenience for the betterment of the society.
Kohima Village Council (KVC) has notified that all shops under its jurisdiction will remain closed from April 27 to 29, 2024.
In a circular, Helievio Solo, the chairman of KVC, stated that considering the CNCCI's indefinite closure was in the best interest of the community, the village would likewise implement the same measure within its area of authority.
