Advance security convoy of Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh was ambushed by unidentified militants in Kangpokpi district on Monday, injuring two police person.
The convoy was en route to Jiribam to assess the security situation before Singh’s visit. The attack occurred around 10:50 a.m. at T Laijang village near Kotlen.
The driver, Moirangthem Ajesh (28), was shot in the back, and a CID officer suffered a minor leg injury. Both were taken to Imphal for treatment.
A joint security operation was launched following the attack. Singh condemned the incident as a direct attack on the people of Manipur and vowed decisive action against the perpetrators.
