Famous novelist and short story writer Arun Goswami passed away in Jorhat

Assam's acclaimed novelist and short story writer Arun Goswami passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 80 due to prolonged illness.

Goswami was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mission Hospital in Jorhat where he breathed his last at around 9.45 pm.

Goswami was born in Dergaon and held the world record for writing the longest book ever, over 10,000 pages.The renowned author was a prolific writer whose works reflected a strong sense of social responsibility and compassion.

Some of his literary works, 'Kalakshana' and 'Salanta Biborini' won high praise and popularity among all age groups.Goswami was also known for his commentary on political issues of the state and country.
