PWD Employee Fatally Struck by Tipper Truck in Dima Hasao, Assam

Kuijening Panme, 47, an employee of the PWD’s Mahur division and a resident of P Longkai village, was struck by a tipper truck around 7:00 PM while allegedly waiting for an auto-rickshaw.
Reports indicate that the tipper truck (TRO1AT1501) was heading towards Laisong when it hit Panme.
Despite being rushed to Haflong Civil Hospital, Panme was declared dead on arrival due to the severity of his injuries.
In the wake of the accident, angry locals detained the truck driver and handed him over to the police.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with locals calling for measures to address reckless driving and demanding strict punishment for the driver involved.
The narrow roads of Mahur town have also come under scrutiny, as residents voiced concerns about road safety and urged the police to increase patrols to prevent future accidents.
Additionally, there have been demands for compensation for Panme’s family, who have lost their sole breadwinner.
Panme is survived by his six children – three daughters and three sons. His wife passed away due to illness in 2016.
