ENPO's Declaration: 'Public Emergency' Declared Amidst FNT Demand in Eastern Nagaland

Chenmoho resolution: The House announced that it will strictly implement the Chenmoho resolution of February 23, 2024 against the delay in settling the offer for creation of Frontier Nagaland Area by the Government of India through the ENPO Ministry, "in any central and state elections Will not participate". The signatories said that the people of Eastern Nagaland "will not accept any assurances given by the Home Ministry to be implemented after the upcoming parliamentary election process."
Dawn-to-dusk shutdown: The House also decided that, as the next phase of public protest, there will be a dawn-to-dusk shutdown in the entire eastern Nagaland on March 8, 2024 – followed by intense protests.
No election campaign: The House also declared that during the period of public emergency, "there should be no election campaign by any political party within Eastern Nagaland".The organization warned that any individual or group not following the declaration would do so at their own risk.

The tribal bodies concerned also submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Nagaland, reiterating their resolve to take their own action if the sentiments and aspirations of the people of Eastern Nagaland are not respected.
They stressed that if the Election Model Code of Conduct is declared by the Election Commission of India without signing the MOS, the Easterners will not be held responsible for any untoward situation arising in the region.
The memorandum also urged the Governor to immediately submit the report to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Earlier, while addressing the media on February 15, ENPO members had expressed disappointment that despite several assurances from the Union Home Minister, they have yet to receive the final draft of the FNT.
Highlighting that this was the reason behind the rallies in Eastern Nagaland,he urged the Home Ministry to provide the draft Lok Sabha election model code of conduct before it comes into force.
