In a tragic incident on Sunday, a 40-day-old girl was reportedly killed by her mother in Barpeta Road, Assam, allegedly due to severe financial difficulties.
The suspect, Nazmina Khatun, hails from the Dhupguri area of Barpeta. Following her arrest by the Simlaguri police, Khatun confessed to the crime, according to sources.
Authorities believe the motive behind the killing was financial hardship. Witnesses claim that Khatun threw her sleeping infant into a nearby pond. However, the exact details of the incident are still being investigated.
The infant’s father, Abdul Aziz, shared with the media that he suspects financial pressure led his wife to commit this act. He has called for strict legal action against her.
