Ukrainian Drones and Missiles Result in Fatalities in Russia and Crimea
On Sunday, Ukrainian drone and missile strikes led to the deaths of four individuals in Russia and Crimea, according to Russian officials. This incident follows a Russian bombing in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, which resulted in three fatalities and left many hospitalized.
In Sevastopol, a port city in Russian-annexed Crimea, debris from intercepted Ukrainian missiles killed three people, including two children, as reported by Mikhail Razvozhayev, the city’s Moscow-appointed governor. Approximately one hundred people sustained injuries in the attack.
Additionally, in Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, a Ukrainian drone strike on the city of Grayvoron killed one person and injured three others, stated regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that their air defenses intercepted and shot down 33 Ukrainian drones overnight across the western regions of Bryansk, Smolensk, Lipetsk, and Tula. No casualties or damage were noted in these areas.
These events followed a Russian airstrike in Kharkiv on Saturday afternoon, where four aerial bombs hit a five-story residential building, killing three people. Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that 41 individuals were still receiving medical treatment on Sunday. In a subsequent video address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Ukraine’s allies to enhance its air defenses.
He stressed the critical need for modern air defense systems in Ukraine, such as Patriot missiles, accelerated training of pilots for F-16 fighters, and above all, the need for adequate range for their weapons.
Meanwhile, in the Kyiv region, two people were injured by debris from two Russian missiles that were shot down overnight, according to Ukraine’s air force commander Mykola Oleschuk.
In another development, Regional Governor Vadym Filashkin of Ukraine's partially occupied Donetsk region reported that Russian attacks on Saturday resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to four others.
