An 11-year-old girl named Jenita Sapamm was tragically killed after being struck with an iron rod on her way to an exam in Thoubal district, Manipur.
The attack occurred at around 7:30 am as she rode her bicycle to Ibemchal Visal Academy. The assailant, 45-year-old Sapam Sarat, hit her on the head, causing her to faint.
Passersby caught Sarat and handed him over to the police. Jenita was taken to Thoubal District Hospital and then transferred to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, but died on the way.
Both the victim and the assailant were from the same locality. Sarat is now in police custody, awaiting legal proceedings.
