Assam News |
In a heartbreaking incident in lower Assam's Baska district, a 26-year-old man tragically lost his life while attempting to save a friend from drowning in the Palla River. The young man has been identified as Manzil Khan, the son of Jamaluddin from Moirajhar village, located in the Govardhana police station area of the Salbari sub-division.
Manzil Khan, along with seven friends, decided to swim in the river on Saturday evening. During their outing, one of his friends started to drown. Demonstrating immense bravery, Manzil jumped into the river to rescue his friend despite not being able to swim. Unfortunately, he too got into trouble and went missing in the water.
The local police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams were quickly mobilized to search for Manzil. However, the search operation had to be suspended on Saturday night due to poor visibility. The efforts resumed early Sunday morning, and the SDRF team successfully recovered Manzil’s body.
The tragic loss has left Manzil’s family in deep sorrow.
