In a strategic operation in Manipur’s Imphal West district on Saturday, security forces detained three individuals, including a teenager, believed to be active members of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Apunba City Meitei).
According to officials, the arrests were made by a joint team of central and state forces based on precise intelligence. The operation, supervised by Imphal West SP Ksh. Sivakanta, involved a cordon and search mission that successfully led to the capture of the suspects at a hideout in the district.
The detained individuals, identified as Akoijam Robinson Singh (31), Phijam Tomba Singh (50), and Lourembam Sadananda Singh (18). They are suspected of planning extortion activities. During the operation, authorities also seized a four-wheeler allegedly used for criminal activities and various incriminating documents.
The suspects and the seized items have been taken to Imphal West Police Station for further investigation. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law, officials reported.
This operation follows a similar successful mission in early June 2024, where security forces apprehended three other KCP-CM members in the southern part of Manipur. In that instance, police recovered three pistols, ammunition, mobile phones, and a vehicle.
