On Monday, voter turnout exceeded 59 percent in 49 constituencies across six states and two Union territories during the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections. Notably, Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir saw its highest-ever voting percentage.

The election day was marked by isolated incidents of violence in West Bengal. Additionally, some polling booths in West Bengal and neighboring Odisha experienced EVM malfunctions, while Maharashtra saw complaints regarding the slow voting process.

As per the Election Commission's data released around 10 pm, the estimated voter turnout stood at 59.06 percent. The overall voter turnout across the first four phases was 66.95 percent.
